Dragon Boat Races

Dragon Boat Races, Feb 2014
The first dragon boat races were held to celebrate Qu Yuan the great warrior poet.  Qu Yuan committed suicide in the river Mi Lo as a protest against political corruption.  That was 2000 years ago and since then dragon boat racing has become a big part of Chinese culture.
In Sydney Dragon boat races are part of Chinese New Year and held at Cockle Bay.  The boats have up to 20 paddlers and race to the beat of drums.
I joined my friends at Sketch club on Sunday trying to capture  sights which constantly moved.

  1. Hi Nancy, I'm really enjoying the drawings with the Sketch Club. I particularly love the fact that you own style is coming out so strongly! Lovely!
